23 May 2008 - Woodside new boy Jon Checkley has now made it big time, with a five second appearance on the BBC's 'Have I Got News for You'. The clip is from a documentary about Mumming plays, and features the Ashdown Mummers, for whom Jon was a founder member; Jon appears during the opening gags, in full St George's regalia. 14 May 2008 - Following an invitation at our last pub dance of the year to come and open the 2008 tour back at the Horn's, here we were. There was dance, there was beer, and there was a couple of special treats for everyone with ears.

10 May 2008 - It was down to the Southbank for a family day of dance and sight seeing, with much advantage taken of the area's fantastic food outlets, particularly in the Borough Market. It was a great day, with hard dancing in the 'fuggy' weather, and a number of interesting diversions...

1 May 2008 - May has come, and Woodside took their place in Cassiobury Park to greet the first sunrise of the summer. What promised to be a pretty grim day turnded out very pleasant, and held out all the way through our visit to Merry Hill infants school and the Paper Mill in Apsley.

26 November 2007 - Once again we had a great time at the Coach and Horses on Croxley Green, dancing with Whitethorne and Wicket Brood. We forgot the singalong sheets but managed to get by with Geoff and some of the others cobbling something together for the day. The weather held out for the dancing and many old friends were in attendance. |

6 October 2007 - Can it really be thirty years since Whitethorn first donned their clogs? It certainly is, and Woodside Morris Men joined a host local teams to help celebrate. First there was dancing outside the Three Horseshoes in Letchmore heath, then lunch and cake in the village hall. Perfect!

29 September 2007 - Our programme of dance may have ended, but there were still some pleasant tasks to be carried out. Rutland Morris Men provided an excellent late season tour of their local area, with a stacks of other sides and a feast to boot!

16 September 2007 - The season came to a very pleasant and delightful close at the Whtie Horse pub in Hedgerley. A Sunday dance at this brilliant pub has become the traditional season closer for Woodside and is one of the most Morris-esque venus a side could hope to dance at.

9 September 2007 - Following on from the Bensheim weekend, Woodside took part in the Amersham Heritage day. Big crowds were in attendance on a glorious late Summer's Sunday, and it was also a chance for the team to meet a few friends we had made the previous weekend.

5 September 2007 - Our last Wednesday night dance was celebrated in style with a cracking evening at the Horns. After dancing a large and appreciative audience, we opened Shane Lamont's open mic night with a tune and a dance which went down a storm. We'll be back to open next season!

31 August to 3 September 2007 - Woodside spent a fantastic four days at the Bergastrasse Winemakers' Festival. Dance spots in the town and in the massive procession were punctuated by civic receptions and tours, with opportunities to play, sing or dance in a Festival took over the streets of the town.

4 August 07 - Not the whole lot yet, but to get the ball rolling on notations for our own dances, in the style of Lionel Bacon's black book, with one of our more recent additions to the Woodside tradition, Andy Bean. Over the next few months we will build up the notation to include the entire repertoire.

14 July 07 - Big celebrations for Woodside's Squire, Geoff Roberts and former girlfriend (now wife!) Mary Davies tied the knot at Watford Registry Office, then headed off to Kirtlington for an idylic late afternoon and evening in the company of friends and family and the Committee Band at the village hall.

4 July 07 - Woodside joined eight other teams for the annual St Michael's Folk Evening, a jamboree of dance, music and song held in historical St Michaels, part of the city of St Albans. Contrary to prediction, the weather held out and everyone had a cracking night.

23 June 07 - Woodside celebrate their fiftieth annversary with a tour of some of the traditional villages that brought many of the dances that we do today. The tour started in Badby, and ended up in Steeple Claydon, with a dance from each respective tradition performed in situ, as it were.

25-28 May 07 - Woodside make a first visit to the Chippenham Folk Festival for the Saturday, dancing at the arena and around the town. The day was made perfect by a Woodside 8, Sheffield City 2 scoreline on the Bar Football at the Rose and Crown.

5 May 07 - Woodsides regular London tour of London took place this Weekend, trawling along the Southbank from the Anchor,
near Borough Market, to the Founders Arms, with great weather and a very enthusiastic crowd. Whilst we were there,
someone videod Captain Larno's, and later put it up on You Tube.

1 May 07 - Our annual early morning riser to celebrate the start of Summer (as featured on the cover of the Midweek Observer),
then it was off to Dave and Ann Lang's for breakfast, St Saviour's School, Abbotts Langley for an educational interlude,
followed by lunch and more dancing at the Paper Mill, Apsley.

20-23 April 07 - Woodside travelled out to the Med for a weekend of dancing, sight seeing and general relaxing in a convivial
surrounding. The side met up on Malta on Friday 20 April, some making a longer holiday of it, then stayed until St George's
Day, flying back on the Monday.
