SUMMER HAS STARTED!! SEE OUR DANCE DATES TO FIND OUT WHERE YOU CAN SEE US

Welcome to
Woodside Morris Men's Home Page

Woodside Morris Men have been dancing as a side since 1957, though their roots stretch back even further, to the members of the Phoenix folk club, based in Woodside Park, Finchley.

Dancing in Watford for over four decades

The Side is now based in Watford, where we have been since the mid 1960s.
We dance predominantly at pubs in the Watford, Hemel Hempstead and Rickmansworth area, but go further afield for special occasions, such as folk festivals such as Whitby, Chippenham and Wimborne and other events across the country. Even the occasional foreign tour, including two trips in 2007.

What do Morris Dancers do in the winter?

Throughout the winter, between September and May, we practise on Wednesday nights at the Pump House Arts Centre, just off the lower high street in Watford. We are always on the lookout for men of any age who would like to try their hand at the English martial art, so if you are interested, why not give it a try!

Please use the navigation bar above to find out a little more about Woodside Morris Men, Morris Dancing in general, what Morris Dancers get up to all year round, or the English Folk Scene. A further nav bar will appear when you have accessed a 'chapter' of the site. Return to the Home Page by clicking on the Woodside banner on the top left of any page.

Morris Dancing is an aerobic form of dance which provides healthy exercise and social activity. Woodside's Foreman, Dave Pearse, is an expert instructor, having trained Morris Dancers, both new and experienced, for over twenty years, as well as being a folk dancer of nearly four decades' experience.

During the Winter, Woodside Morris Men meet at 8.00pm on Wednesday nights in the Colne River Rooms at the Pump House Arts Centre Watford. You would be most welcome to come along.
