Woodside at St Michael's Folk Evening

Amid promises of grotty weather and an afternoon that did nothing to hint that the rain and wind would be anything other than in full attendance, we set off for the annual St Michael's Folk Evening. Such worries were wholly unfounded, and for those that thumbed their noses at such doom-sayers, the rewards were palpable, on a pleasant summer evening somewhere on the outskirts of St Albans.

The event is a colourfull addition to the many tradtional festivities that take place in Hertfordshire, and show cases much of the areas' dancing talent. But it's not only the dancing that draws people to St Michael's. As well as the teams performing, there are also the St Michael's pubs, which hosted various singing and music sessions, and were full to the rafters.

Other teams performing on the night were: English Miscellany (wide range of folk dancing), Hiel'and Toe Club (Scottish dancing), Ramrugge Clogg (Northwest), St Albans Morris Men (Cotswold), Stevenage Sword (Rapper and Long Sword ), Verulam Rapper (Rapper), Whitethron Morris (Northwest) and Wicket Brood (Border),
