Woodside Morris Men at Chippenham Folk Festival 2007

Woodside Morris Men made their first trip to Chippenham Folk Festival on Spring Bank Holiday 2007. The weather, which the Met Office had predicted to be dreadful, turned out excellent, and we had a great time dancing with only a small team. We started off at the arena, dancing our display set (Upton, Old Woman and Larno's) and went on to dance at some excellent spots around the town, with great cameraderie among all the dance sides and a very appreciative audience.

We had the added bonus of Woodside's most honoured Honorary Member, Lank Broughton being at the festival, playing along with Pete for old time's sake. Although short on numbers, we took part in the procession with a reduced side, and although outnumbered by Sheffield City Morris, we still beat them 8-2 in a bar-football playoff. We had a fantastic day's dancing on the Saturday, and those of the team that stayed on for the rest of the weekend had a very enjoyable time, though Sunday's rain did, literally, dampen things a little.

The photos on these pages were taken by members of the Binners, who had travelled down the previous night, spending it in Avebury with Wayne and Dave D, of Woodside. Photos on the Arena page were taken by John Moody and Mick O'Sullivan, and photos on the other two pages were taken by Neil Dunham.
