Woodside's Special Events 2009

Woodside Ale, 30 January

Once again held at Sarratt Village Hall, the ale this year saw around sixty guests dance, eat and drink in no particular order. Attending teams were Aldbury, Grand Union, Kemp's Men of Norwich, Letchworth, Mayflower, Ofley, Stafford, Yately and Zhiggy, Zhiggy, Zhiggy!

St George's Day Tour

Woodside take to the Streets of London to celebrate the feast day of St George, dancing at some of our usual haunts on the Southbank, and a few other spots by special arrangement!

Greet the Dawn, 1 May

The traditional Morris celebration of the May Day dawn. Woodside will be dancing once again in Cassiobury Park at 5.00am! We look forward to seeing you there. We'll be dancing at William Crook House after breakfast, and then moving on to Watford Town Square, to dance in the afternoon.

Wimborne Folk Festival

Woodside will be dancing on the Saturday at Wimborne Folk Festival, at which there will also be a wide range of the UK's top folk acts and other Morris sides.

Weekend Away - Weymouth, Dorset

This year's weekend away has been arranged by Charlie Green, and he is treating us to the delights of Weymouth in Dorset.

Lupus Charity Day

Once again, Woodside will be joining with a number of local teams to support the Lupus UK Charity in Watford town centre, with dancing starting late morning, and going on until around two o'clock.

Boxing Day on the Green

Our traditional end to the year and Christmas time celebration at the Coach and Horses, Croxley Green. Starting at 12.30, we hope to be joined once again by Whitethrone and Wicket Brood, with some mumming and a little singing afterwards.

Woodside's Dancing Men logoMap to the Pump House linkMorris Dancing is an aerobic form of dance which provides healthy exercise and social activity. Woodside's Foreman, Dave Pearse, is an expert instructor, having trained Morris Dancers, both new and experienced, for over twenty years, as well as being a folk dancer of nearly four decades' experience.

During the Winter, Woodside Morris Men meet at 8.00pm on Wednesday nights in the Colne River Rooms at the Pump House Arts Centre Watford. You would be most welcome to come along.
